Connection Status Tracking Inconsistencies

Issue Description

We're experiencing several inconsistencies with our connection status tracking system:

  1. Succeeded Connections Counter Not Updating

    • The counter for successful connections is not incrementing as expected.
  2. Incorrect Classification of Failed Connections

    • The system is misclassifying certain connections as "failed":
      • Half-stream connections are being counted as failed, even when the connection was initially established successfully.
  3. Delayed Updates to Active Connections Counter

    • The active connections counter is not decreasing immediately after a stream/connection has finished.
    • There's a noticeable delay in logging successful connections.

Expected Behavior

  1. The succeeded connections counter should increment immediately upon successful connection establishment.
  2. Failed connections should only be counted when the connection truly fails to establish, not for half-stream scenarios.
  3. The active connections counter should decrease instantly when a stream/connection finishes.
  4. Successful connections should be logged without delay.

Potential Impact

These inconsistencies may lead to:

  • Inaccurate reporting of connection statuses
  • Misleading metrics for system performance and reliability
  • Difficulties in real-time monitoring and troubleshooting

Suggested Next Steps

  • Investigate the connection status update mechanism
  • Review the criteria for classifying failed connections
  • Examine the timing of counter updates and logging processes
